Glass is an elegant item to have anywhere in the house and always brings in a touch of class. Although it may be fun and stylish to have, the hard part comes in when you have to clean it. It may not be a joy but if you want to maintain that stainless and polished look a few scrubs here and there are in order.
Before tackling your glass shower doors there are some items that you need to have on hand. You'll need a spray bottle, vinegar, water and a squeegee. Mix the water and the vinegar in a bowl and pour it into the spray bottle. The ratio of the vinegar and water mixture should be 1:1. Make sure you shake the mixture well.
Make sure there's lots of steam on the glass shower doors, so cleaning right after you've taken a shower is a good idea. If not, run the hot water tap for about 3 minutes for steam to fill the bathroom. Spray your doors with the vinegar and water mixture and wait for it to settle. During this time the vinegar is reacting and lifting off any stubborn stains and scum.
Squeegee all your glass shower doors until the vinegar and water mixture is completely removed. Do this thoroughly and make sure you get into the corners where dirt is known to hide. After you've done this allow any other remaining water to dry.
The advice offered above applies generally to cleaning your glass shower doors but here are tips on how to maintain your glass doors on a daily basis. Reduce the amount of mildew by wiping off any that is present after each shower. Also open the glass doors after each shower to allow for fresh air to circulate as this discourages the growth of mildew. Coat your tile walls with furniture polish to prevent scum from soap from building up. This is also a useful technique to prevent water spots. When it comes to removing hard water stains on glass doors a bit of alcohol will work best. Just leave a bit of it on the stain for a while then removed by scrubbing. A little bit of lemon oil spread on a piece of cloth can be used to remove hard water stains and lime build up on shower doors and walls.
