Doorless Walk in Shower Ideas to Follow

Life has become too much of a routine that we seldom take for granted the things that really matter and pass it of as something common. This holds true especially for people who live in the city, being exposed to a hectic environment and being ground to the teeth with work and stress. It seems as if city people no longer have the time to stop and smell the flowers both literally and figuratively and that they need to take a cold shower to clean themselves up, as well as to take their minds away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Sadly, however, even bathing has become no more than a part of their everyday routine. A way to improve this outlook is to follow the doorless walk in shower ideas that would be mentioned in this article.

The purpose in redecorating the doorless walk in shower that most city dwellers have in their bathrooms is to make to make a statement that bathing should be a fun affair. It is not merely an avenue for hygiene, but also the point in one's day where everything is washed in preparation for a new beginning. As such, it would be a good idea to paint or cover the walk in shower area with color or marble patterns that the common bathroom user is fond of. Doing this would make the bather feel that lighter while in the shower.

It would also be a good idea to illuminate the walk in shower area with bright lights. Apart from the functional purpose of illuminating the body while bathing, a brighter bathing area would make the bather feel more positive and upbeat during and after showering. Wall lamps or spotlights should be used to achieve this end but, however, should be placed where it is not prone to be doused or splashed with water. It will also be a good idea to water proof such light fixtures to avoid unforeseen accidents.

Showering in such a happy and visually appealing area will no doubt make the city dweller feel refreshed physically and mentally. Apart from the dirt, the above-mentioned shower walk in set up will also wash away negativity and stress, preparing the city dweller for day and, if anything, giving him or her a daily affair to look forward to.

Putting a New Shower Stall In a Half Bathroom

Our house has a 1/2 bath on the main floor, just a toilet and sink. But it's a pretty big room and there's plenty of space for the addition of a shower stall. This would be great for several reasons.

1. I could get my children out of my bathroom and give them their own space to get ready each morning.

2. My husband could come out of his grungy basement bathroom and have something nicer to use when he comes in from the field.

3. It would boost the value of our home by making it essentially two full baths instead of 1 1/2. Technically it would be 1 and 3/4 baths, but since there's also a 3/4 bath in the basement I'm not sure how realtors handle the fractions. I do know that it would increase my selling value and hopefully help the house sell faster.

There are some technical details that must be considered. First, we have to stud out a wall around the shower enclosure as we don't want a free standing unit, but a full built in. This will give us a chance to hide the annoying pipes that are hanging down from the ceiling and help clean up the room to make it look a lot nicer.

Another nice thing about this project is that we don't need this bathroom to get ready in the morning, so the demolition and construction won't really interfere with our daily lives. I had to give up a major overhaul of my main bathroom because I just couldn't figure out how to work around the mess.

How to Choose a Shower Door Seal

Often with remodeling or designing a new home, it is the details that define living space. Something as simple as the wrong shower seal can make the difference between a bathroom you love and one that is a source of stress. There are several seals on the market. Each of these varieties is best under certain conditions.

Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Shower Seals

These seals are generally translucent and often used in glass-to-glass contact areas. The translucent nature makes these shower seals the natural choice when working on a frame less shower stall. Some of these have single-edged sweeps to allow greater stiffness, while still making a water-proof seal.

Magnetic Seals

These are a sub-group of PVC shower seals that deserve mention in their own right. These 90, 135, or 180 degree seals incorporate a magnetic attraction along the seal to improve water-resistance and to maintain shower door closure. These are useful in both frame less and framed shower stall arrangements.

Aluminum Profile Seal

The most common and traditional of door seals, they are used with metal framed shower doors. These are the vinyl padded "tracks" that allow smooth opening and closing of shower doors, and keep the water in the stall rather than allowing flow into the rest of the bathroom. These come in colors varying from clear to various opaque colors.

Selecting the right seal starts with complimenting to the style and design of your shower stall. Quality materials and careful installation can make your door seal a pleasure instead of a nuisance.

Bathroom Shower Door

With so many designer fashions in the home, the bathroom is also designed with fashion in mind. One big part of that design is the shower door.

It's amazing how many different kinds of shower doors there are. Most of them are made of either transparent glass or the glass that's made with modesty in mind. Some of them are frame less. The frame less ones look as though there is no door or glass there at all. While taking a shower in that, it feels like you're in a room that's completely see-through. There are some now that have a cut design in them. The door can also connect with a side that is also completely glass.

A few of the new type of doors have a hinge and actually open out, just like the front door of your house. These doors can swing out to the left or to the right, depending on how your bathroom is designed. The French door actually has two handles, and each door can open out. However, the sliding panel type doors are still popular.

The modern doors for the shower now have integrated hinge systems that can show more glass, and provide secure operation. There is also a clear drip system at the bottom to keep water in the shower and not outside of the shower room, and it maintains an all-glass look.

There are also some showers that are very small. The bi-fold door is perfect for those. There are also angle doors for the smaller showers.

Glass shower doors can range in price from $225 up to and over $1,700. You may want to consider purchasing a door stop just so you don't end up breaking your fragile door. You'll want one that works well, and adds beauty to the room.

Two Person Shower Design

In the house there will be one bedroom and bathroom that are larger than any of the others. If the house was built correctly than these might be the master bedroom and bathroom. These call for more space because they are accommodating two people who have various needs and wants.

When we think about the perfect master bathroom we will commonly think of possessing a whirlpool bathtub, two sinks, and a large shower. The possibilities are endless - but not all of us are aware of a design that might become a new style - the two person shower. This is one of the most romantic designs that you are able to use in the house.

This is designed to accommodate two individuals. This does not just imply that the entire wall is so large that both might be in there at a time. It also implies that there will be two various shower heads put in so that they are able to literally share the water. No more waiting in line!

These are slightly more involved designs and more pricey than anything else you may choose. It is produced much in the same way as a walk in shower. The only difference is that it may require a good deal more space, extra plumbing, and enough shelves to contain the toiletries for both people.

The base of the two person shower will be made in much the same way as a normal walk in unit. The enclosure is constructed out of glass that can either be completely transparent or frosted depending on the preference of the owners. The door will be put either on the front or the side of it. It must be far enough away from both shower heads in order to keep the water from escaping.

The Two Person Shower is perfect for master bathrooms to expand on the space you have. Use Shower Design Pictures to get ideas on how it should look.

Granite Shower Walls - Oh the Ease

My family recently got some splendid looking shower walls made of granite and they look beautiful to say the least. When I first saw them however, I was concerned that perhaps they would be a challenge to keep clean; to my delight this was not true by any means. It was a surprisingly simple procedure and didn't need too many things to clean it. All I needed to use was a simple sponge and some hot water. This simple method of cleaning will keep it looking brand new while maintaining its durability.

To clean the granite walls in the bathroom shower, all I or anyone needs to do is just dip a sponge in some hot water and rub down the walls. If you do not wish to use a sponge, then you may use a soft cloth and it will be just as effective. If you use anything such as bleach on your granite walls in the bathroom: it may begin to damage the surface and damage the luster it has. It will still remain strong and durable, but it won't look as nice.

The durability of the granite shower walls is also unbelievable: it seems like almost nothing can damage them. Since granite is a very tough material, it can last for many years and never have the need to be changed. To even cut the material, it would need a diamond saw to cut through it. The best thing is that there is no need to worry about breaking it as a result and because such strength, beauty and durability, the overall value of your bathroom will increase thus making your home more valuable.

With professional help, granite shower walls are very easy to install and do not require as much hassle as using other types of material possibly would. For its price it is a well worthwhile investment and now my family think that the bathroom is best looking room in the house because of it. Not only that, they believe that the bathroom is now the easiest room to clean as well. Granite shower walls add great beauty to any bathroom.

Why It's Important to Clean Your Shower Enclosure

Many people who have a shower enclosure installed in their bathroom fail to understand the importance of keeping it clean. With a bit of attention you could transform your bathroom and bring it back to its original state. Here are some important reasons why you should keep your shower cubicle clean and avoid all the nasty elements that are eating away at your bathroom.

Bathrooms provide the perfect environment for germs and bacteria to multiply at a phenomenal rate. The damp and moist corners of your shower enclosure invite both mould and grime to build up and take over. Not only will this affect how your shower cubicle looks it will also affect your health as well as the impression of people visiting your home. Think about it, if you walked into someone's home, whether it be family or friends what would your impression of them be when entering the bathroom and noticing this untidiness. What you want is a nice clean looking bathroom with a gleaming enclosure.

To help reduce the mould and bacteria in your bathroom you need to search for a good bathroom cleaner, which doesn't have to be too expensive, to clean it with. Spread the bathroom cleaner on a cloth or pad, with a bit of elbow grease scrub over the mouldy areas. Then apply some glass cleaner to the shower enclosure and chamois over the glass to give it a sparkling finish.

To help prevent a damp moist environment it is essential that a good airflow is maintained in the bathroom. To increase the amount of air getting into the bathroom, it may be a good idea to install an air extractor fan. However, don't think that by increasing the airflow into the bathroom you can avoid cleaning the shower enclosure as the shower cubicle will not clean itself. With little regular due care and attention you can have your shower enclosure transformed back to looking as good as new.

Shower enclosure features such as the chrome plated parts and handles also need to be cleaned on a regular basis. These probably require a bit more effort initially to restore the look as they require much more of a shine to look clean.

All in all, it is essential that your shower cubicle is kept clean and tidy. Failing to do so may pose you with a few problems down the line. Not only could it damage your credibility amongst your family and friends, your health may be affected as well as the value of your bathroom.
